The Nairobi Declaration for Development Effectiveness

English, Spanish, French, Arabic

Following civil society’s participation to the 4th High Level Forum in Busan and their key role in shaping the outcome agreement for effective development co-operation, 50 civil society organizations (CSOs) met in Nairobi, Kenya in December 2012 to outline the issues that CSOs are facing and define a common mission, vision, goals and objectives. Participants represented all regions of the world – Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North Africa, and the Middle East and North Africa, and their sub regions, as well as different sectors of civil society, including faith-based, feminist, labour, rural sectors, and international civil society organisations. What emerged was the Nairobi Declaration for Development Effectiveness, which provides the framework and roadmap for the creation of the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness.
